Letter from the President May 05, 2015

Sailing is what we do and sharing sailing is a big part of that. We will give you a brief overview of what we offer and hope you will contact us so we can make what you are looking for happen.

1)      Sailing Camps for kids 6 to 14: We are offering two one week sailing camps for kids this year. The last week in July and the first week in August.  We are hoping to have beginner to intermediate in the first week and intermediate to advanced in the second week, but will make exceptions. For more information about our program go to www.sookesailing.com or call us at the number below.

2)      For Adults and family fun we have introductory sails (currently on Tuesday nights at 6:30) where you can come along for the sail and we will show you the ropes if you want or you can just come for the ride. It is $30 a person and $50 a family and subject to availability and weather. Email us to book in or for more information. You can also find out more go to www.sookesailing.com or call us at the number below.

3)      If you are interested in or become more interested in learning all about sailing or owning your own boat, there is a Sailing Co-op now in Sooke. We have two keelboats a Catalina 27 and a Crown 23 that are shared amongst a group of sailors at all levels of ability.  It is a great group of adults and families that share the learning, the cost and the work involved in owning sailboats. If you have skills you want to share you can do that or if you want to learn there is lots of that going on. There is a documented progression that everyone must go through before they can take a boat out on their own but if you have skills already they are taken into account in your progression. Find out more at www.sookesailingcoop.com.

4)      Sailing Courses: This year we are offering Basic Cruising Standard, Coastal Navigation, ROC-M Marine Radio, and may do Intermediate Cruising if all works out. Bruce Stott is our instructor and he is very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to sail with. For more information about our program go to www.sookesailing.com or call us at the number below.

Thanks so much for your interest. You can send us an email, call or visit our web pages. Looking forward to seeing you on the water.
